Facebook launches video advertising in Canada
Facebook is expanding its video advertising services to help advertisers to broadcast commercials targeting users in Canada, France , Great Britain and four other countries , said the U.S. group told Reuters.

This project marks a new stage in the development of new advertising offers social network , considered crucial to allow it to continue its growth.

15 seconds spots appear on the pages viewed by users and are launched automatically, but without sound as the user does not click on it.

Facebook began marketing these spots in the United States in March with a small group of advertisers , which include the Progressive Insurance Company and NBC , a subsidiary of Comcast.

The group has ensured that this first phase was a success, without elaborating .

The deployment of this offering outside the United States will be made cautiously , as the U.S. market , in order to avoid disrupting users .

For growth

At first , Facebook will work with a small group of advertisers in France , Germany, Brazil, Japan, Canada , Australia and Great Britain from next month.

Dissemination of spots on these markets should not begin on a large scale before September, Facebook preferring spend several months working closely with advertisers to ensure that the spots correspond to its quality requirements , said a spokesman.

But he added that some spots may be released in June , in time for the World Cup soccer.

Video ads , as well as advertisements on Instagram, the photo sharing application acquired by Facebook , are among the new activities designed to secure new sources of growth to Facebook, even if it says do not expect that they contribute significantly to its turnover this year.

Overall advertising revenue from Facebook grew by 82 % in the first quarter compared to the first three months of 2013 to 2.27 billion U.S. dollars.

For now, the revenue per user 's social network is less international than that achieved in the United States and Canada. But about 84% of 1.28 billion monthly Facebook users live outside these two countries.
